The Anchieta Museum is located in Praça do Pátio do Colégio, in central São Paulo.
It gathers the whole history of the life of Father José de Anchieta. There is a model showing the old city of São Paulo, surrounded by mud and rivers of the time. It is at the point of the Paulista plateau chosen by the Jesuits to found the city destined to be the second largest in the world and the first to be born from a college. It marks the beginning of the city, which was founded in 1554 by the Jesuits Manuel da Nóbrega and José de Anchieta, who built their first chapel there. Next to it is the Anchieta Museum, which houses daily utensils of the time and precious works of sacred art. Inside the museum courtyard are original walls of the building that have been kept for study. They are made of clay and whale oil and were made by Father Afonso Brás.
