It was built around 1542 and was one of the first religious temples to facilitate the participation of natives and new inhabitants in liturgical services.



Its façade is quite sober, unlike other temples that in my time have sumptuous details.



Located in La Antigua Guatemala, is Ciudad Vieja. It is located in the towers of the port of the bell towers and its atrium is a small semi-landscaped square.





I suffered, like the other temples in the region, due to the earthquakes of 1717 and 1773, the latter being the most serious damage to their structures.



It currently houses several images, such as the one of the Virgen de la Candelaria that was sold in the process on the first Sunday in February, but before the 2nd when it was celebrated.

It is located 6 blocks from the Central Park of La Antigua, at the end of the Alameda de Santa Lucía, returning to Ciudad Vieja, at the opposite end of the ruins of San Jerónimo.



The church continues the service of the community and inside you can see the image of the Virgen de la Candelaria and Nuestro Señor Nazareno. The temple suffered damages during the earthquakes of 1717 and 1773 but the structure is closed in an excellent state of extension of the bell towers and a very strong facade compared to the rest of La Antigua Guatemala.
