In 1718, the Arraial da Ponta do Morro de Santo António was elevated to Vila de São José, thus obtaining its right to constitute its Town Hall. Currently, in the house, the following functions: the City Hall, the services of the Rodrigo Mello Franco de Andrade Foundation and an area that, through an agreement, is available to the Federal University of Minas Gerais.
