The Glenbow Museum in Calgary is the largest museum in Western Canada, with over 93,000 square feet (8,600 m²) of exhibit space in over 20 galleries, displaying a selection of the Glenbow collection of over one million objects.
The Glenbow-Alberta Institute was formed in 1966 when Eric Harvie donated his vast historical collection to the people of Alberta. Located in Calgary city center opposite Calgary Tower, the Institute maintains the publicly-opened Glenbow Museum, which houses not only its museum collection, but also a large collection of art, library, and archives. In 2007, a new permanent exhibition entitled "Mavericks" opened on the third floor; This exhibition traces the history of Alberta through a series of 48 influential personalities. Glenbow Museum CEO Michael P. Robinson is a member of the Order of Canada.
