Fort of Meia Praia, also known as S. Roque Fort, although its true patron is S. José, is a construction of Mannerist architecture that obeys the new characteristics of the artillery. Floor plan with ramp to the terrace. Integrated in the network of coastal fortresses built to the west and east of the city of Lagos to contain the constant harassment of the coast by pirates and privateers.
In Lagos.
Today, located in the middle of the Bay of Lagos, it dates back to the second half of the 17th century, revealing a complementary function in relation to the fort military device of the city of Lagos.
