Chronology
The formation of this chromeleque began at the end of the sixth millennium BC and ended in the third millennium BC.
The monoliths, some three meters high, were placed on alveoli or cavities, previously prepared. Currently there is a layout of all these monoliths, all of them being numbered, making it possible to identify the individual characteristics of each one.

Cromeleque dos Almendres was discovered in 1964 by Enrique Leonor Pina, when designing the Geological Chart of Portugal.
Cromeleque dos Almendres is a megalithic monument that is situated on a slope facing east, in the parish of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, Évora municipality, Évora District.
It is the most important megalithic monument in the whole of the Iberian Peninsula, not only because of its size but also because of its conservation status. It is also considered one of the most important in Europe.
It has been classified by IPPAR as Property of Public Interest since 1974.
