Garden of Memory is a memorial to the thousands of slaves who were traded from the island.
The monument of the Garden of Memory (2013) was created within the framework of the international project called "The Slavery Route" initiated by UNESCO. It was produced by the then Ministry of Education and Culture of Mozambique and the Histoun Association of Reunion Island in a partnership institution. This monument was inaugurated on August 23, 2007, being part of the heritage category under construction.
