The Municipal Theater of Iquique was built in 1889 by the Soler brothers and is characterized by a Neoclassical style façade with four female figures representing the four seasons of the year. The Theater is entirely built in Oregon pine wood, structural wood from Canada . Ground reeds, clay and shell are the predominant construction materials. During the golden age of saltpeter, this theater was the setting for international opera, zarzuela and theater performances.In the theater hall there is a Foyer, under its central dome four musical geniuses and four cherubs are painted that represent of music, dance, painting and theater.

By plane

It can be accessed by the Pan-American Highway from the south or north. From the north the closest city is Arica, which is 307 km away. From the south, the entrance door is through Calama, 389 km. away.

Currently, this jewel of architecture is a National Monument, by Supreme Decree of 1977 and constitutes a source of legitimate pride for Iquiqueños.
