The Cathedral of Palermo of strong oriental style due mainly to its inner courtyard full of palm trees.

First, it was a Byzantine basilica, in which, in 1185, the archbishop of Palermo ordered the construction of a temple with a basilica plan with three apses. The cathedral of Palermo was reformed over time, with splendid improvements, such as the portico of 3 arches, with Aragonese influence.

It has a Latin cross plan, with three naves divided by columns. In the interior there are many chapels, among which the one of the Sacrament, because it is decorated with precious stones and lapis lazuli, and the one of Santa Rosalía, where is the sculpture of the patron saint of Palermo.
