They have 39 hectares that house an ecosystem characterized by shallow lagoons; formed by groundwater from the Rímac River Hydrological System.
This ecosystem is characterized by having a high diversity of species, especially aquatic birds with 155 species, of which half are migratory, 12 species of fish, 29 species of aquatic insects, two species of reptiles, one species of amphibians and 67 Flora species, it is the only ecological reserve in the City of Lima.
The swamps can be reached, with three routes of Microbuses and three lines of combis. By private car, you can get there by coming along the beach circuit or Av. Olaya and take Av. Huaylas, also Paseo de la Republica Prolonation and after passing the Villa Curva, enter the Huaylas Prolongation and continue straight to the Sanctuary.
It is a place of refuge and a way station for birds that make their annual trips with each change of climate.
The Swamps are surrounded by paths, watchtowers that allow panoramic views and small boats to plow through part of the lagoons.
